Amazon Elastic File System (EFS) is a simple, serverless, install-and-forget flexible file system that makes it easy to set up, scale, and optimize the cost of file storage on AWS. You can create file systems accessible by EC2 instances, Amazon Container Services ECS, Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), AWS Fargate, and AWS Lambda functions through the file system interface in the AWS Management Console. These systems also support full file system access semantics such as high consistency and file locking.

Amazon EFS file systems can automatically scale from gigabytes to petabytes without needing to provision storage. Dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of compute instances can access an Amazon EFS file system concurrently, and Amazon EFS provides consistent performance for each compute instance. Amazon EFS is designed to be highly durable and highly available. Amazon EFS has no minimum or setup fees, and you only pay for what you use.
